Product Review: ColourPop Lipsticks!

“I’m Annabel, and I have a lipstick addiction…”

It’s like, sort of a problem at this point.I keep my lipsticks, glosses, and liners in a shoebox on my vanity, and for the sake of this post I counted how many I have…

The Box O Lippies

34. I have 34 lipsticks in there…. And who knows how many others are spread throughout purses, coat pockets, my car, etc!

As a self-diagnosed lipstick addict, I couldn’t pass up trying out Colour Pop after seeing their products all over Instagram. I recently ordered four Lippie Stix, one Ultra Satin Lip, and the Lippie Primer, and after having all six products for about a month I figured it was time to write a review. BTW, I was not compensated for any of these products 🙂 Also, I have a huge zit right by my lips right now so I’m just going to include photos of the swatches!

Natural lighting

Here are the colors I got:

  • Topanga– a bright coral with a satin finish (fades to a pink stain)
  • Sauce (sold out) – a dusty rose/mauve with a matte finish
  • Brink– a brick/terracotta with a matte finish
  • Lady– a dark, vampy red with a matte finish

I love all of these products! The Lippie Stix are very slender, so they’re easy to apply. My favorite color is Topanga; it’s so wearable and I especially love how it looks after it has faded a bit! I wear Sauce the least often; I really like the color but the applicator seems to have broken! It doesn’t push up properly anymore so I’m finding that I reach for it less. Brink is a darker color on me than it looked on the website, but it’s still awesome- it’s a “my lips but better” shade for me. Lady is more of a winter shade, but I love it for when I want to add a little drama to my look without being too over the top.

I definitely want to buy more Lippie Stix– they come in SO many colors and are only $5… it’s going to become a bad habit for me 🙂

2. Ultra Satin Lip

“Frick n Frack” in natural evening light

I bought this in the shade Frick n Frack, which has over a hundred positive reviews on the website! I really like it but it is much darker than I anticipated. I thought this would be an everyday shade for me, but it’s too dramatic for me to feel comfortable wearing to work. I’m curious how it will look when I get a little more tan as the weather gets warmer, so maybe it will become part of my usual rotation then! I also feel like the applicator is harder to use than the Lippie Stix. It’s still a great lipstick, and I wear it a lot, but there are other liquid lipsticks out there that I like better (I prefer the ones I have from Smashbox, Sephora Collection, theBalm, and NYX). However, ColourPop products are such a great deal (the liquid lipsticks are $6!) that I still think this is worth trying, especially if you are on a budget or want to try a color that’s out of your comfort zone!

3. Lippie Primer

This is far and away my favorite ColourPop product so far!!!!! I use this literally every day under all my lipsticks, and it really does make the color last WAY longer. Plus it has a really nice taste, sort of like vanilla! It doesn’t feel like a balm exactly, but unlike other primers I’ve used it isn’t drying! It also doesn’t look too shiny or chalky, and it works under all finishes. This is one of my HG makeup products and I don’t think I’ll ever feel the need to try another lip primer!

Rating: 5/5

 Overall Thoughts:

I highly recommend buying from ColourPop because their products have such a great value- especially since orders over $30 have free shipping. I have only tried the lipsticks, but they make eye and face products too! My order came really quickly too; I just got the regular shipping and I think it arrived in 4 business days. I’m looking forward to trying more products, especially some of the more “out there” colors! For $5 I feel like there’s nothing to lose in trying!

xoxo!
